TR7 Hard Top and/or Project Car For Sale Posted: 2022-4-8
I have a 1980 TR7 I bought last year with some obvious engine problems. I have just discovered now how serious those problems are.
So I want to sell the black removable hardtop to help fund either a rebuild or a swap. It seems to be in good shape as seen in the pictures. There is a light colored headliner but no defogger.
I am asking $800 plus shipping from Queenstown, MD 21658. I can deliver within a couple of hundred miles, if that helps.
If someone is interested in the entire car as a project, I would consider offers. Car shows 78,000 miles. It is a 5 speed car with air conditioning and is very complete. The interior is the plaid tan and is in good shape. It was replaced. There is a new uninstalled soft top with cloudy windows. Uninstalled front struts and a multitude of other misc new parts. It has minator 13 wheels. The engine and transmission are out. One stud stuck in head which has damage to 2 cylinders. Block has 1 cylinder where the piston came apart and a chunk is stuck between connecting rod, crank and bottom of cylinder. Cannot determine extent of bore damage, but doesn't appear significant.
I believe the car was on the road as late as 2019 from the VA sticker so most systems, including A/C should work. A/C compressor was replaced within the last 5 years and still had freon when removed. The tie rod ends, ball joints and wheel bearings look to need replacement. There is a small rust hole on the drivers side floor, another under the spare and one at the bottom of the LF fender. The old maaco paint job is not good. There is a lot of filler and rust is breaking out around many seams and panel edges, although no other rust throughs then mentioned. There are 2 folders of documents and receipts.
The car and parts would have to be towed out. It does roll and the brakes appear to work. It needs the steering column bushing. I would prefer a complete parts car sale as opposed to a part out.
This is an original British Leyland specification “Unipart” TR7 water pump. (Unlike the current pumps being sold that have questionable fit and reliability issues). Comes with 6 vane (new) and 12 vane (used) impellers. This is a great chance to obtain a correct spec water pump for your TR7.
